- MySQL Tools for 5.0
- ThickClientSetup.zip (attached below this page)
- DEMO database
- Minimum 150Mb of free space
1. If you are running any other operating system than Windows Vista, kindly ensure that you have Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 installed. This is a redistributable software and can be downloaded directly from Microsoft. 2. Once your computer is installed with Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 , you will need to download and install the following (to download these, Right click on the link and select "Save Target As" and when saving change the "Save as type" to "All files" and add the ".msi" extension to file name. Click save and you are done) :
Installing MySQL- Run the installation mysql-5.0.51b-win32.exe
- Click Next
- Select Complete, and click Next. Proceed to click Install
- Proceed to clicking Next until you have reached a prompt where Configure MySQL Server Now (Should be automatically ticked)
- Click Finish
Configuring MySQL (Please wait awhile until the next prompter appears)- Click Next
- Select Detailed Configuration and click Next
- Select Developer Machine and click Next
- Select Multifunctional Database and click Next
- It is recommended that the drive and directory be left as default, which will show you C: Installation Path, click Next
- Select Decision Support (DSS)/ OLAP and click Next
- Ensure that both TCP/IP Networking and Strict Mode are enabled. The port number is recommended to be left as default. Click Next
- Select Standard Character Set and click Next
- Ensure that Install As Windows Service is enabled and the Service Name should be MySQL. Also, ensure that Launch the MySQL Server automatically is enabled. Click Next
- Ensure that Modify Security Settings is ticked. Key in the Root password as wavelet and retype wavelet in the column below. Ignore Enable Root Access from Remote Machines. Click Next
- Click Execute
- When Processing Configuration is running, please check if all configurations are ticked :

Configuration file created
- Windows service MySQL installed
- Service started successfully
- Security settings applied
- Click Finish
Installing MySQL Tools for 5.0- Run the installation mysql-gui-tools-5.0-r17-win32.exe
- Click Next
- Should you agree with the license agreement, select I accept the terms in the license agreement and click Next
- Destination Folder - Click Next to install to this folder or click change to install to different folder
- Click Next
- Select Complete and click Next
- Click Install
- Followed by Finish
Installing the Point Of Sales- Download the POS program here.
- Click Next
- To install in this folder, click Next. To install to a different folder, click Browse. Then, click Next
- Click Next to start installation.
- Click Close
Download wsemp (database)
This is an empty database to store all your data from EMP. Please download it from here. Edit wsemp database (Compulsory)Please follow strictly the steps below : My computer > Local disk C > Program files > Wavelet > Thick client > Data > SysConfig (Open it)NOTE:- If you are using Windows Vista, please cut and paste this file unto Desktop first, then edit it (as below). After that, cut and paste back into its original folder.
This is what you will see in the notepad :- [Server] Server=localhost | [POS] PosId=1 | [Database] UserId=root Password=root DB=demo
| Change to :-[Server] Server=localhost | [POS] PosId=1 | [Database] UserId=root Password=wavelet DB=wsemp | Restoring your database- Go to windows - Start > MySQL > MySQL Administrator
- Just ignore Stored Connection.
- Ensure that the name for Server Host is stated as localhost, user name should be root, and key in the password you have entered before when Configuring MySQL (referring above is wavelet). Click OK
- Click Restore
- Click Open Backup File and select the wsemp.sql - from where you saved the downloaded database file earlier.
- Click Start Restore
- Click Close
To check if a database exists- Click Catalogs
- Select wsemp to view all tables of wsemp schema.
Open POS
- Click on PointOfSales Launcher (on your desktop)
- Login - The username and password are the same as in EMP.
- Username : XXX
- Password : YYY
Linking the POS to EMP ServerVERY IMPORTANT:Download both: xstream-1.3.jar xpp3_min-1.1.4c.jar
and copy these files into the /usr/java/jboss-4.0.1RC2/server/default/lib/ directory as the root user on the EMP server.
- Open POS by double clicking Thick Client Setup on desktop.
- Under Standard > Web Services, enter http://test.wavelet.biz:8090/ws/EMPThickClientService?wsdl
- Replace the highlighted words according to your company's server name. The rest of it should be the same as the above.
- Click Apply
- Click Get Branches to populate the Branches of which the user will be trading from using the POS.
- Select a Branch. Then click Apply
- Next, go to Synchronziation tab
- Click on "Download Now" button, to coordinate all the data from database in server into the POS. Example : Item codes, Stock balance and Pricing.
- Click Start
