Getting the IP address of the server Open Terminal and then type /sbin/ifconfig it will give you something similiar to following, we need the highlighted address.( Number of eth could vary, eth0, eth1, eth2 and etc) sometimes there could be more than one eth (eth0, eth1, eth3). Provide all the IP to wavelet technician. eth0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:0F:EA:91:04:07 PING TO ROUTER Now you know the server has ip address. Try to ping to router. In the terminal, type ping followed by RouterIP address. Normally the router ip is 192.168.1.1 but this could vary depending on your router and network setting. Please get the router IP from your network technician. ping PleaseWriteRouterIPHere If you can see SENT and RECEVED signals, that means the server is connected to router. If it fails, the server is not properly connected to LAN. Please check the network cable untill you can ping Router. Port forwarding Please forward following ports - 22 - 21 - 5666 - 8080 (this could vary depending on your emp port, you should ask Wavelet technician for more info) Get Public IP Go to www.whatismyip.com it will give you something like following.
